Can Tho is the biggest city in the Mekong Delta, the rice bowl of Vietnam. Famed for its floating markets, Can Tho is a calm, relaxing base from which to explore the Mekong. Criss-crossed by canals best explored by rowing boat, it is a great place to sit by the waterside with a Vietnamese coffee and watch the world go by. Easily accessible from Ho Chi Minh City, whether by bus or the speedboat which takes a beautifully scenic route, it is a great place to take a weekend off from Saigon or to see more of the region.
